We are thrilled to announce the successful commissioning of a new small-scale Solar Rooftop system on L.Gaadhoo Island in the Maldives.
This milestone marks an important addition to our ongoing collaboration with the UNDP, wherein we have previously commissioned nine distinct solar systems across multiple islands.
About the project:
UNDP Maldives and the Agro National Corporation have started a mission to install cutting-edge cold rooms for storing fruits and vegetables at nine strategic sites across various islands within the Maldives. This initiative, known as the SEEDS Project, aims to bolster economic recovery and alleviate the adverse repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis in the region.
The newly integrated Solar PV systems are being deployed at each of the nine project sites. These systems are purposefully designed to curtail a portion of the grid-based electricity consumption while simultaneously curbing carbon emissions.
The solar system is estimated to generate 25% to 50% of the cold rooms’ annual electricity requirement, exemplifying a significant leap toward sustainable energy practices.
At its core, the SEEDS Project is geared towards facilitating economic revitalization by cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit among farmers and fostering the emergence of forward-looking agri-businesses.
